Therapy for Life Transitions

Improve coping & restore hope

You feel like your world has been turned upside down

You’re tired of feeling caught in this cycle:

  • Uncertainty and Anxiety (Uncertain what the future holds; wondering what this will all do to your life, stability, identity, etc.)

  • Resistance or Denial (Holding on to the past or avoiding addressing the new reality)

  • Confusion and Overwhelm (Everything feels disorienting and difficult to navigate)

how i can help

First, let’s take a breath and detangle this together. Then, we can create a new cycle.

Therapy for life transitions focuses on supporting individuals as they navigate significant changes in their lives such as career shifts, relationship changes, or personal development. I aim to help clients process their feelings, develop coping strategies and build resilience.

The therapeutic approach often involves exploring new goals, enhancing self-awareness and fostering adaptability while providing a safe space for reflection and growth during these transformative periods. And at times, simply a place to just talk, cry or laugh about the absurdity life can dish out.

Along with talk therapy, I use tools like clinical hypnosis and accelerated resolution therapy to heal the past parts of your experiences that might be holding you down or to help gain more insight, and to increase your tools for relaxation or de-stressing.

We can get through this together.

The cycle you can create…

Adaptation and Adjustment

The waves of anxiety and overwhelm are less daunting, more controlled with new tools and perspectives. You can start to experience more confidence and flexibility.

Integration

You feel like you can actually live your day to day life; sure, things are not always going to be perfect but you know what you’re capable of now. You’re more comfortable in whatever the new reality is and heck… you’re smiling, laughing again!

Reflection and Growth

You can look back at the situation with grace and empathy for yourself, and consider the insights of what this means for your life. The future feels brighter, the goals you’ve had for yourself are feasible.

I want you to know:

Change is possible.

Let’s work together to get you through this part.

Common questions about therapy for life transitions

  • A life transition is a significant change or shift in one's life circumstances or roles, such as starting a new job, moving to a new place, experiencing a major personal loss, or reaching a milestone like retirement. It often involves adapting to new challenges, reevaluating goals and relationships, and adjusting one's identity or routine to accommodate the change. For teens and young adults these transitions can be exceptionally difficult because you're still forming your identity, building your boundaries etc. However, even older adults can be taken aback by a change.

Life transitions can happen at any age or stage and can be expected or unexpected. They can even seem small or normal to others, and sometimes they are transitions we are dealing with internally that the rest of the world doesn't see or know.

  • Therapy for life transitions is going to look different for every person - as every person's experience and needs will be different.

I have a firm belief that we will go further in therapy with a strong therapeutic relationship. I want to get to know you, and what your experience of the problem or problems are. You might benefit from traditional talk therapy (using cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing), or using a more somatic (mind/body) technique like clinical hypnosis or accelerated resolution therapy to help you challenge negative thought patterns, heal past pieces of you intruding in on your present self or create new tools for managing the symptoms (like depression and anxiety) that you experience in life transitions.
